Hours 11.30 – 2 pm, 12.5 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced Catering assistant to join our team, this is an exciting time of change within the school and an opportunity for you to build and progress your career. Ideally you will hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification and have a working knowledge of the Government’s regulations regarding school food and drink, along with some knowledge of special dietary needs and nutritional requirements, or be willing to attend the necessary courses to gain the appropriate knowledge and skills.


On a daily basis you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving food (including a range of special dietary requirements) in accordance with current food safety regulations, School Food Plan and School Food Standards, health and safety regulations and local authority regulations. Duties also include maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen.

The successful candidate will be forward thinking and able to support the Catering Manager and the Headteacher to develop catering systems to enable service delivery to the highest quality for our children. They will also ensure that services are of an excellent quality, conform to legislation, are healthy and are cost effective.


We are looking for someone who has:


  • Have an understanding of Health & Safety requirements in a school environment specifically in relation to catering and the kitchen environment. 
  • Knowledge of food and safety handling
  • Experience of cooking in a school  kitchen.
  • Experience of effectively managing the daily and weekly cleaning schedule
  • Has good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to coordinate activities
