GPPS Governance Statement

 

The Local Governors at this school are all appointed by the Trust.

 

All governors are appointed on the basis of their skills. Ongoing training and support is provided.

 

The purpose of the Local Governing Body (LGB):

 

  • To support the Trust in implementing its mission of advancing education for the public benefit by providing outstanding, sustainable education solutions that transform learning in schools
  • To be a link to the school community whilst providing challenge and support at local level

 

The responsibilities of the Local Governing Body

 

The LGB are accountable to the Board with specific delegation for strategy, monitoring, oversight and challenge within their school.

 

The LGB have 3 key responsibilities:

 

  • To recommend vision, ethos and the strategic direction for their school within the overall Trust strategy and local context
  • To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational and financial performance of the school
  • To ensure money is well spent

 

The delegated responsibilities of the LGB are detailed on the Trust Scheme of Delegation in force for the current Academic Year and sub divided into three core functions:

 

  •  Strategic improvement
  •  Support and Challenge
  •  Communication and Collaboration

 

The LGB has no further permanent standing committees however working groups or panels may be convened if required.
