Doubling / Number 20

  1. Warm up - count to 20, focus on 12, 13, 14, 15. Count objects up to 20. Count out objects from a larger group.
  2. Doubling – The children will learn that double means ‘twice as many’. They should be given opportunities to build doubles using real objects. Mirrors are also a fun way for children to ‘double’ the quantities they build.
  3. Encourage children to say doubles as they build them e.g. Double 2 is 4
  4. Provide examples of doubles and non-doubles for the children to sort and explain why.
