Messages during lockdown

Monday 13th July 2020
Good morning year 4.

Welcome to the penultimate week of year 4! Can you believe you only have 8 school days left until the summer and then year 5. Although the year was cut short, we have been reflecting on our year with you and next week you will see a final video message from all 3 of us (your teachers) on google classroom. This week your parents will receive the summer newsletter where you will learn who your new teachers are and then a message will appear in the star folders at the top of this page from your new teachers introducing themselves to you. I know they can't wait to meet all of you in September. Next week we will be asking you to write them a letter and email it to them so start thinking about all the things you want to tell them about you.

Have a great week this week. Enjoy all the lovely we work we have planned and put up for you on GC and we are here in GC or email if you need us.

Miss Paknadel, Mr Reed & Miss Enahoro.

Monday 22nd June 2020

Good morning year 4. We hope you all had a lovely relaxing weekend.

Monday 22nd June (that's today) is National Windrush Day. Windrush was a ship that brought hundreds of people from the Caribbean to Britain after World War 2 to help rebuild the country. Lots of this weeks lessons are all about Windrush. We have paused our topic Guatemala just for this week to learn all about Windrush and its importance in British history. Well done to this weeks GC winners. Watch the week 9 video to see if it was you! We can't wait to see your wonderful work and as ever, appreciate all the hard work you are doing. Keep it up.

Monday 8th June 2020

Good morning year 4.

Welcome to week 7. We know that some of you are finding it a bit tough at the moment. Without us (your teachers) speaking to you, teaching you and giving you information, the lessons are tougher than usual. We are so so proud of how hard you are working. It takes so much resilience and mental focus to independently access the lessons on GC, teach yourself the content and then do the independent activity too. You should be so proud of yourselves for all you have done so far. We know it might get overwhelming or frustrating sometimes so when this does happen just take a break or do a different activity. If you find something particularly tricky and an adult can't or isn't able to help you then email us to let us know you are having some trouble and move onto something else. Remember that the things you can always access easily are Bug Club, My Maths, Maths Whizz, so head over to do one of these if you're feeling stuck. Keep going and remember how proud we are of you.

Have a great week.

Miss Paknadel, Mr Reed & Miss Enahoro.

We hope you are having a great week. The weather has changed hasn't it. Have you found that you are more aware of things like changes in weather and noticing things in nature since lockdown began? I know I have! This Half terms school value is 'Respect and Cooperation'. What does this mean to you? Who do you have respect for? Is it something you have automatically or something that is earned? Discuss this with your family or friends and as an extra task this week if you want to design a poster and email it to us we would love to add them to the slideshow of pictures below.

Eid Mubarak to all that celebrated on Sunday! We hop you had a lovely day with your families. Today is a bank holiday so you can all relax. Have a lovely week and we will be back for you all next Monday for the last half term of school this year.

Friday 15th May 2020

Happy Friday everyone!

We can't believe next week is the last week before it's half term holidays again! This half term was shorter but it has really flown by. Apparently there is scientific evidence that time feels like its going quicker than usual whilst in lockdown and we  certainly agree.

Are you enjoying the new rules that you can go out and exercise with your household for as long as you like now? You might even spend most of the week in the park during half term!

Make the most of the day and try to hand in all the work as after today it will say on GC 'late'. Remember that the deadline for your work is always Fridays. We appreciate you handing it in by Friday so that we don't have to mark on the weekends and can have a break too.

Have a lovely weekend and well done for all your hard work this week.

Happy Wednesday year 4.

We hope you're having a great week so far. You may have seen a new video and link on the GC stream for music through Brent Music Service. Please do sign up, it's really fun and guess what! Our Brent song that we all wrote together has been chosen as the song of the week!! so all the school children in Brent that are signed up to the website get to hear your wonderful song. It's free and doesn't take long to sign up so follow the link on GC and get an adult to help you. Then just enjoy!

A quick message from Mrs Attia: Please use your Maths Whizz account for at least 90 mins each week. If you don't use your account, it will be given to someone else (So please go on, it's a really valuable resource that is also lots of fun and will help you keep making progress).

Have a lovely day.

Friday 8th May 2020

Good morning year 4.

Since now we speak to so many of you daily on GC, we will only be putting a message on here a couple of times a week. So come on over to google classroom if you need us. We will also be putting the weeks work only on google classroom from Monday.

Today is a bank holiday. Do you know why?

Today is the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe (V E) day and the start of a bank holiday weekend too.

The 8th of May 1945 marked the end of World War Two in Europe - that’s 75 years ago!

Sadly, scheduled anniversary celebrations and mass gatherings will not be taking place. However, you can join in and mark the day by designing bunting and decorating your home in the colours of the Union Jack, listening to music from the 1940s, designing a medal and planning a rationed menu and having a picnic at home with your family.

We hope you have a lovely day and a great bank holiday weekend. We will see you all on google classroom next week.

Wednesday 6th May 2020

Good morning year 4.

Well done to all of you that have handed in work on GC so far. We have really enjoyed reading it, commenting and sending it back to you. It can be a bit tricky to get the hang of so some children are finding the easiest way is to do it on paper, take a photo, then upload that photo. Give it a go if you're finding it tricky too. Keep up the good work year 4! Remember to also log in to Bug Club, MyMaths and Maths Whizz. Weekly shout outs for the best users will be on Friday! There's still time to add your name to that list!

Have a great day. See you all on google classroom (GC)!

Miss Paknadel, Mr Reed and Miss Enahoro.

Tuesday 5th May 2020

Good morning year 4.

So many of you have now signed up to google classroom which is brilliant so well done. But we want to see all 90 of you on there so why not get in touch with some of your friends that you haven't seen on there yet and encourage them to sign up or get in touch with their teacher if they need some help. We are so impressed so far with the children that are on there accessing the work, submitting it and getting involved in the question of the week - keep it up. Remember, you get to CHOOSE what activities to do today.

Have a great day. See you all on google classroom (GC)!

Miss Paknadel, Mr Reed and Miss Enahoro.

Monday 4th May 2020

Good morning year 4.

Quite a few of you have signed up to google classroom and we are hoping to see lots more of you sign up today. Remember, all the instructions you need are in the email your parents received last week, including; how to work out your usernames, your passwords and the school code. If you are having trouble signing up, send us an email and we can help.

Have fun accessing this weeks work and remember, there's a lot there, so do a timetable and figure out when you plan on doing each piece and on what day so you don't feel overwhelmed or 'swamped' (did you get the new word of the week reference there hehe).

Thursday 30th April 2020

Good morning year 4.

It's Thursday and our favourite day of the week. Can you guess why? It's the day that we all get to go to our doors at 8pm and show our appreciation for all the amazing NHS and key workers. It's so amazing to all come together at the same time to clap and cheer. It brings neighbours and communities together in such a wonderful way and is the best way to show support for all the amazing people working so hard to look after people and keep the country going. We hope you all get to go out there and cheer as loudly as you can!

It is also Captain Tom Moore's 100th birthday today. He has raised an amazing 29 million pounds for the NHS and is an inspiration to us all. Maybe you can add an extra few claps for him at 8pm too.

Well done to those of you who have signed up already for google classroom. Your parents should now have received the email about it so go and check it out and sign up ready for Monday when you can.

Have a fantastic day and speak to you all tomorrow.

Miss Paknadel, Mr Reed and Miss Enahoro.

Wednesday 29th April 2020

Happy Wednesday year 4.

As you know, we are in the process of phoning you all at the moment. It is taking us a bit of time to get through to everyone but don't worry, we will make sure we speak to all of you as soon as possible. It has been so so lovely to speak to those of you we have so far. Just hearing your voices has made us smile more than anything has since the lockdown began. It has also made us look forward to when we can finally see you all again in person at school. And to those of you we haven't spoken to yet, we can't wait and will call soon.

We have some exciting news to share with you. We are going to start using google classroom next week! This week your parents will receive an email from school with instructions on how to log onto Google Classroom. It’s exciting because you can upload your work for us to see and we can post a comment on your learning as well! From Monday 4th May, you can access the weekly work just like you have been doing from here. We will also still put the work here for now in case there are any problems accessing it on GC.

Finally, Mrs Attia has been so impressed with all the children that have sent in their answers for her weekly challenge so keep it up and if you haven't done it yet there is still plenty of time so head over to the challenge page in the children section at the top of this page.

Have a fantastic Wednesday and speak to you all soon.

Miss Paknadel, Mr Reed and Miss Enahoro.

Tuesday 28th April 2020

Good morning year 4.

Happy Tuesday. We hope you have all managed to access the work we have put on here for you. Just have a look in the white flower folder above this message. We have also added a suggested timetable below. It is just a suggestion and you may want to adapt it to suit you and your family but it can definitely be beneficial to set yourself a timetable. You get to be the teacher in a way and decide what lessons are going to take place each day.

We have also added the school value below which this term is 'responsibility'. One of our responsibilities as your teachers is to support you with your learning at home by providing you with work. One of your responsibilities is to try your best to access this work. Give it your best shot and stay positive, even if it is sometimes tricky or frustrating.

Keep working hard and keep smiling.

Miss Paknadel, Mr Reed and Miss Enahoro.

Friday 24th April 2020

Good morning year 4.

Happy Friday! Well done, you have completed the first week of the Summer term and can relax for the weekend after today. Sometimes it can be hard to get back into the swing of things when you have been on holiday so don't worry if you found it hard to motivate yourself this week. There is always next week. Many of you will be marking Ramadan at the moment so we wish you all the best during this holy month.

We have added some pictures you have sent us to the slide show. Thank you Kaya for sending us pictures of your delicious baking! Thank you to Leo who has been working hard to create his own animal habitats and has even made it into a game for all of you. Thursday 23rd April 2020

Good morning year 4.

We hope today is a good day for you all. It is Thursday already! This week is just flying by. If you look below you will see that we have created a slideshow of all the pictures you have sent us so far so that all of your pictures can have a place here for you to look at any time you want. Recent additions include Veer planting seeds yesterday because it was World Earth Day! Did any of you do anything else to celebrate this day? You know, even though this time is really challenging for many of us, there are some really positive things that have happened too. The earth is healing and pollution levels have fallen. The air is cleaner and wildlife is thriving. In India, the Himalayas are visible from some areas for the first time in 30 years. Here is a picture to make you smile. Some sheep decided to take advantage of the local McDonald's being closed and had a wander around themselves.

In other news, we want to say well done to the following children for reading more than 10 books on BugClub in the last month. It is really important that you keep reading as much as you can. Your parents will receive an important email about BugClub today so if you aren't sure how to log on then please contact your teacher and we can help you.

Well done to:

4P - Rowda, Noman, Oscar, Veer, Keyarn, Kyrese.

4E - Anisa, Motaz, Muhammad, Ty, Trisa, Aisha.

4R - Reeya, Kaya, Mohammad, Zoya.

Keep up the hard work, send us lots more emails and pictures and we will speak to you tomorrow.

Miss Paknadel, Mr Reed and Miss Enahoro.
